The colourful and unique services Mandala offers are well interpreted by Willem Heeffer with the creation of a fresh looking interiors achieved reclaiming, recycling and upcycling everyday waste.
How reclaimed and recycled furniture and lighting pieces can be sleek and modern to be part of the trendy interiors of a tour operator.
A long plywood table in front of the shop window is topped by upcycled drum lamps. Industrial washing machine drums have been powder coated by Heefeer in the travel agency signature colors. The stools and benches are unique and made from bits and pieces of reclaimed wood turned into colorful seating. The table’s clamp on legs makes it easy to move around, store, and assemble during in house events and trade shows. The colorful dividing wall is a collection of mix-match panels reclaimed and supplied by SITA, a waste solution company. Behind a custom-made storage space for catalogues, maps and climbing gear.
Willem Heeffer, a Dutch designer who lives and works in Helsinki, Finland, aims in his work to create ‘mindful design’ that respects ecology and ethics. “I want my interiors to look chic and neat while staying true to my ethos.”
