Pick of the day from SaloneSatellite: Rollin’ Rollin’ Stool
If you like the concept behind the T-shirt Chair, you will love the Rollin’ Rollin’ Stool by Japanese design studio Design Soil.
The Rollin’ Rollin’ is a stool where the seat area is made out of wool from your favourite old sweater you can’t wear anymore. Unweaving the sweater and winding the wool on the big reel, it turns into a soft and comfortable seat. Your sweater, your memories linked to it, will be with you again in your everyday life.
The Rollin’ Rollin’ Stool is part of a collection called the “Epilogue – Prologue” which take into consideration the end of life of products.
To give another purpose to things usually thrown away, to adjust forms and functions along with growth and difference, or to store memories of everyday life. Such ideas add a new page to the relationship between people and products.
Because lots of things are disposed, we need to recognize the value of this new relationship. If the relationship between people and products lasts longer, and can maintain functions with memories, a prologue to a new story will begin.
